Default Max Nitrous on ARP'd stock parts?

From experience what kind of nitrous hit can a well rebuilt LT1 take? I've spun this engine well past 6500 rpm more times than I can remember. Logged 3k on the new block so far.

My new fuel system from tank to injectors is up to the task and according to Dave @ Nitrous Outlet he can set me up with a system that I'm not sure that even with ARP'd mains/rod I'd be comfortable with.

I'm in no rush, as usual. Just planning out. Still got more upgrades to do. Figured I'd ask. Thanx

150 shot is the biggest kit I've seen recommended for a stock lt1

You can't just consider the size of the shot while ignoring the NA output of the motor.

I'm doing similar to what quik95 is saying.
I'm at 425 rwhp NA and spraying a 75 shot. That's about 600 at the crank. All stock bottom except for ARP rod bolts. I spin to 7100 NA and about 6900 on the juice.

The question is not how much can NO2 can it take....the real question is will your stock hypereutectic pistons, and rods hold a combined 700+hp like bowtienut mentions. They could...maybe....but how long?

IMO, I would play it safe with 100-125 shot unless the motor was built for NO2; but I'm conservative having sent a rod out the side of the block of my stock LT1.

Over the years I've seen bone stock LT1s hit with 150-175 shots without a problem. You 100-shot guys are a bunch of pansies.

Hey - watch it!
But yeah......a hundred+ passes with the 150 shot, and a few with the 175, on my bolt-on motor with never an issue. BUT.......now putting out more with the heads/cam NA than previously with the 150, so my absolute limit now on the stock bottom will be the 100 shot

Bone stock LT1 with 150 shot is nowhere near as much stress on the parts as a 450-500 flywheel hp LT1 being hit with 150 on top of that . I'd spray more on a stock LT1 then a ARP'd stock one that has heads/cam on it...

I'm also a Nitrous Noob though, so thats just IMO .

I'm so noobish to nitrous I would probably have someone else set it up for me just so I don't fry the pistons. Plus don't you have to retard the ignition timing when using it? So does an MSD 6 come in handy now? Dry or wet system? All that crap...

The Dig 6 lets you pull timing that can be activated with a 12V line. I wouldn't run over 150 if you aren't sure of the tune. I've broken a stock wristpin with out any nitrous(bone stock motor) so there is no definite answer.
