Cadillac CTS-V - I finally got my benchmark

Since I have had my 05 V I had yet to get the chance to run anything to see where in the food chain she stands.

On saturday that all changed. A work friend of mine has a stock 2012 Camaro SS with about 5000 miles on it. After the company golf Tournament we decided to race my grandpa car against his ss. We went down to mexico and ran from a 30 roll.

We both started in first and I honked it off. Through 1st and second gear I pulled about half a car on him through third he hung right on my bumper when I shifted to fourth (slow shift for me) he jumped a car out in front and I hung right were I was till we shutdown around 140ish.

I was happy that my 4 door family car that is 7 years older kept up so well. Had I made a better shift I may have been able to hold him off.

My mods are K and N CAI and magnaflow catback. I weigh 255 my gal around 120. He weighs 180ish and his gal is probably not over 100.

It was a fun race none the less.

I posted this in the V forums since I figure you guys would see it and appreciate it more than the street race forum shitshow

throw that gear bro...only shift u need to worry about is 1st to 2nd

Good race..I'm guessing he was an M6? He would have been seeing you tails if he was an untuned auto...

Throw a good cam and headers in there and you'll blow him away. Good story!

Thanks guys, I am just glad I know where I stand now. If I take the hit and shutdown after third I can cheapshot the new ss and take a W lol.

That was similar to my experience with a bolt on 5th gen ss with my full exhaust n intake. Only my car stayed in front. Needless to say, was the best race I had in the car since it was the closest. Everything else I either raped or they raped me lol

I am thinking about some long tubes just to give me the edge for next time. But I do not want it to be too loud.

It'll get a little louder but you should be fine as long as you stick with cats

if you made that shift faster you probably wouldve got him. my V only has Xpipe and dual cutouts and i pulled 1 car on a '11 SS M6 with longtubes and a tune. went from a 50mph roll 2nd gear. i hit the rev limiter a lil bit from 2-3 because i couldnt hear my car over his lol.
