Default Hybrid LS question: PTV, milling, cam.. etc

Long story short, I'm building a 5.3 swap to go into my truck. I picked up a 5.3 with cracked heads for cheap, and also landed LS1 heads. I figured this would be no problem, but after reading some threads I'm thinking I may have PTV clearance issues. I have the engine ripped open so fly cutting shouldn't be a big deal, but I'd really rather not if I can avoid it. I think I'd rather get a lower lift cam than flycut if it comes to that.

Here are the specs:
5.3l, earlier version with dished pistons
Cam: 228/222 .588/.581 114.5
Heads: 853s milled .028 back to stock 5.3l CR
HG: factory .051"

I wouldn't think that cam would cause problems. It's not that big. I ran a 224/228, 581/588 without problems and used a thinner gasket than you have. My heads were milled .035 and I used a .040 gasket. Get some modeling clay and check the clearance.

I was assuming that with a milder cam it would be no issue, but I saw one post that claimed .007 clearance on the intake on a 112 LSA, same intake lobe, very close to the same milling, and same gasket. Theoretically you were .016ish closer, so that gives me comfort at least. I'm only running PAC .600 beehives and I don't plan on spinning this thing much past 6K.
Can I clay check using the old (same part number) gaskets? Bolts?

And unrelated, I love your taste in cars. Wanted an old monte for a while!

Best thing to do is get some modeling clay and check it anyway. My closest valve was at .125, but just to be sure, check it.

Yeah, after research, I expect my clearance to be in the .08-.09 area intake, and .13+ exhaust, but I still need to check it, just because math doesn't always seem to suffice for this stuff. Too many variables.
