Default First Oil Change, Should I Be Concerned?

Ive been driving my new LS3 for 800mi. (20k mi used shortblock) I did the first oil change today to see how the oil looked. The oil that came from the filter concerned me a bit. It had a slight greyish metallic look to it. I ran a strong magnet through it without picking anything up. No metal flakes either I could see. Im paranoid from when I lost a bearing on my old motor so I dont know if this normal from the new parts breaking in or what. New parts include the heads, valvetrain, cam, oil pump and timing chain. I used a lot of assembly lube as well. What do you guys think?

I think I posted on this on corvette forum but I will answer anyway. I agree with the above post, I think it would be assembly lube left over from the install. As long as you aren't finding metal in the oil and you still see good oil pressure I would think you are alright. It take an oil change or two before all that stuff gets out of there.

Good to hear. I did use a lot of assembly lube on everything. This morning oil pressure at startup was 50-55psi, hot idle (220*) is 40-42psi and cruising street/hwy is around 55-60 so I guess thats good. I passed a strong magnet through the old oil as well and didnt pick anything up.
