Check valve bad in pump ideas?

Check valve bad in pump ideas? I have a 95 z28 that I have put an ls1 in. I am using the vette fuel filter and have a bad check valve in my pump. I was thinking about running a line out of the filter to the rail and putting a check valve in that. Any ideas if that would help stop my long starts?
