Hello..

Had some questions looking at getting a carb intake setup for a kinda temp deal, untill i can get someone to tune the ECU for me, not having luck talking with the tuners, for mail order deals..

So im looking at the vic jr, and msd box.

Is there a certain MSD box i have to get since my engine is a 2000, and from what i read it has a 58 tooth reluctor ?

Thanks
There is a thread on of the build in the conversion section

Mods so far
Stock Heads, Cam .560 in/ex 216/220 in/ex @ 50
Z06 springs, relocated Coils, running water cooled exhaust.
walbro 255 inline fuel pump.

Thanks again

A 2000 model will have a 24x wheel and use the 6010 box. Buy the stand-alone box, not the one in the "kit".

What will the exhaust look like?

Oh ok mayby i had the numbers backwards..
what are the difference from the kit one and the other ?
Ill prolly be selling it after 6 months or maybe 50 hours use, and i get the
tuning figured out

This is the manifold

Wow, those for a LS then? I wanted to find a inboard with a blown 305 or 350 and swap it for a 4.8.

and does someone sell the conectors to make your own harness or do you have to buy there $220 harness

The 6010 is fully tunable. The piece that comes with the kit is not. The harness also comes with the 6010 ignition. You do not need to buy any wiring if you have the coils with a coil harness. Ultra simple and you will probably fall in love with it.

Yes those are specific to the LS, there are some others the make manifolds like "marine power" "pleasure craft marine" there are like 2 companys that make headers pcm does but idk about there availability.

The exhaust was the biggest thing keeping me from the swap, then i found these on ebay. cost me about $450 or more after shipping. new there $1000 or more.
I plan to add a turbo hoping for next year, thats the main reason i want to keep th FI, but i just want to get on the water a few times this year with it so im thinking carb for now.

As for as the MSD 6010 , thats not bad then if it comes with the harness, i was thinking i had to buy it to.
and i have the entire harness, i have just modified it down to what i need when i go FI

If you go to pcm engines they have cats on most of there new engines.

Had another ? on that 6010 the coil harness you refer to is just the harness conecting the 4 coils correct ?

Thanks

I would contact MAST motorsports and talk to them.about your tune because they build a LS marine engine.

Yes, the stock connector harness for the coils, they come on the coils, MSD harness connects to them. It is the only parts of the harness MSD does not provide.

Mast does, although my boat is a jet boat, and i plan to run open cooling, which will keep temps right around 180*
and im not sure if mast would be willing to provide tuning info, my guess would be they be inclinned to.
I plan to get hp tuners or efi at a later point, for the turbo anyways. when i have time to sit down and learn how to tune

Sweet guess i will start the ordering process..

MSD 6010
Vic Jr intake or would a Peformer RPM be better, i will prolly only be turning 6K rpm if i change the impeller, 5k other wise
Carb (already have)
^ This is all i need correct

Yep, if you do not wish to exceed a constant operating speed of 6000, the performer rpm is the ticket.

Well just ordered them

Performer RPM intake
and the
MSD 6010

Should be here next week

Another ?
Will a 35 gph electric fuel pump be enough to supply this

THanks

I want to say no, not at all. At rpm that thing will use fuel. More than 35 gph.

Kinda what i thought... so with a 95 gph i should be good ?

Or do i need even more.

And thanks for responding so quick i search around alil before i ask but seems
you have most the answers.

I just finished building my ls powered kona bubble deck jet boat . I love the LS motor for thiskind of project . Mine runs great so far as a stock motor , but I am upgrading this winter . I have a thread on mine in the conversions section .

Forgot to mention , in a jet boat application you will need a Camaro pan , so start keeping your eye out for one . The truck pan is way too deep and will hit the pump intake . Also you will have to either relocate the oil filter or run a smaller filter to clear the bolt bosses for the loader grate on the pump intake . If you need any help with it please feel free to send me a message . I will try to keep an eye on your progress , but I don't make it over here that often .

Hey thanks had already ordered a new pan engine is in the boat runs.

I am not a boat guy, but I have friends with machine shops and they always order special gaskets for marine motors. As I understand the marine gasket resist corrosion better.

As my understanding the head gaskets are the same.. unless your running copper, or mls.
But the main gaskets normally different is oil pan and valve covers timing.. usally all Rubber.. instead of cork
