If everything with the car checks out mechanically and the body and interior is very nice I think its a reasonable price for sure. Make sure to run the history of the car before purchase so you dont find any hidden suprises down the road.

Ask him if the engine has ever been rebuilt and if not how much oil it consumes during an oil change period. That year vette can consume a generous amount of oil.

I paid $9,000 for my all original 2001 C5 base with 160k. If its taken care of you wont have to worry about a rebuild for a while

The earlier years used an EBCM that isn't fixable. I'd go with later models, 01+

You guys are killing me. 99's are great, if its clean and runs well go for it. And its 2001's that had the oil consumption issues, my 99 never used a drop. In fact, I've owned it for over 8 years and it has been the most reliable car I've had. I've had to put a battery in it, that's it. Everything else was completely voluntary!

Sounds like a very fair price. If everything checks out then go for it. You won't regret buying a Vette.
