Junkyard Engines, what do you usually get with them.
So I looked on car-part.com and found a couple 5.3's I was interested in, I called and they said they're for dealers that need to put engines in vehicles to get them in auctions. I was also told it wouldn't come with any coilpacks or accessories, I was told with all the good it's like 1k.... What price does one pay to get a 5.3 or 4.8 with everything including harness to swap into my 1981 Trans Am?

I wouldn't pay more than $500-600 for a 100k mile complete 4.8/5.3 from a junkyard. I paid $600 for a low mileage complete 2009 5.3. But I bought it on Craigslist. I would look for an individual selling one rather than a junkyard.
Heck, I turned around and bought a 5K mile 2004 LQ4 short block for $500 on Craigslist. I kept the 799 heads, coil packs, accessories from the 5.3 to complete my LQ4. Then I parted the 5.3 block, intake, harness, fuel injectors/rails for $600.00. If you watch Craigslist, you can get a good deal.

It really depends on the Junkyard. Talk to others in the area and see what they will include. The 5.3 we got for the Miata was a complete engine from intake to oil pan and also included the harness. It was an aluminum LM4 with 103k. They sold it for $550

Look closely and be patient. I bought my 60K LQ4 with magnacharger, computer and wiring harness for $1100.00. I did need to purchase coils and the MAF, but at that price who cares. The deals are out there, be patient and ready when they pop up.

Hit up Benwood Auto Parts. They're in NY somewhere. I forget who I talked to, but they had no issues getting me a complete pullout with harness, PCM, and accessories. I paid 500 for my 2002 5.3 at around 100k about 3 years ago.
Shipping was steep, but I'm in Ohio.
