Default Anyone 223/227 110 637 640

Hey anyone running a comp 223/227 110 637 640 ??

Im wondering how well this will go with m6 and how aggressive it will be.Also only standard heads.Being such high lift how brutal will this be on valvesprings?Car is only weekend driver.

cheers

very brutal on valve springs, hopefully you have them set up correctly and it wouldnt hurt to have some lightweight valves as well. Any reason why you went with a low revving smallish cam and 110 lsa?

I don't see you benefiting from that lift at all with stock heads. I'd step down at least to either a 223(.610") lsl lobe or a 224(.609") xfi or a 224 xer(.581") lobe on the intake side. On the exhaust side a lxl 226(.605") or a xer 228(.588").
This will be a nice performing and sound cam.

I agree that OP cam has too much lift for street use or unported heads. It is becoming a fad that people want to shove the highest lift in thinking that it just makes sense that it would make the most power. (While in reality this is not the case; quite the contrary) .

I was only asking as i know someone who wants to off load one.Im wanting a crisp powerband with some good low strong midrange that also doesnt fall over up top.I have here sitting on the shelf a 228/228 112 598 and still hesitent whether to use it.My other descision maybe a 224/228 110 609 which i have heard good results with 118mph m6 cam only.

I'd use the 228 cam instead. With a psi 1511 spring

I think you'd be very happy with a 227/227 .6xx 114+1 if you decided to get one cut

High lift doesn't always necessarily mean aggressive lobes.

There are way more factors that go into a lobe being aggressive than it's lobe lift.

That being said these are LSK lobes the cam in question is ground on and I never specify the use of LSK lobes without either a seriously light valve train or unless using solid lifters. Comp really dropped the ball on these for hydraulic use, they are more aggressive than most solid lobes until you get into the pro mod and mountain motor stuff.

I think that is a flop of a cam. Lift shouldnt be higher than .59X on stock unported castings and that is generous.
