224R in A4 C5 with stock manifolds
I'm about to put a cam in a C5 A4 car with the stock converter. Hes going with the TSP header set up but they're on back order until the end of september. He wants to go ahead and put the cam in before Super Chevy so he can race it. How will the car run with the stock converter and manifolds with just a mail order tune in it? Will it pick up any power or possibly slow it down?

Installing a higher stall TC (3000 to 3600) with the cam will make a lot more difference then the headers will. I'd suggest he get a stall now to go with that cam. As far as the mail order tune as long as all the modifications that will be done to the car/engine are factored into the tune it should run fine, but with the stock stall you not going to get any great 60ft times that's for sure!

I would have done the converter to but he wants to leave the stock converter in if at all possible. I think hes more for the seat of the pants rather than getting the best ET possible. Hes running 13.3 now at around 4000ft. With the cam, headers, and a dyno tune do you think he'll be in the 12.80s range? Hes been cutting 2.0 60s on street tires. When we first started talking about modding it I told him with a cam, intake, and converter he should have a mid to low 12s car on radials, that was pretty accurate right?
