Default Hard time cranking what should I scan for

I have efilive and I do alot of diesels. My friend has a 99 vette and some mods such as partial exhaust, and cold air intake. Until it's warmed up it takes like 8 times to start the car. it cranks and then shuts right down. Where should I start and what pids to scan for so I can see whats wrong. I'm guessing it's somewhere along the lines of the MAF but not too sure.

With a gauge right, cause I don't see a PID for it. Well I do see a pid but it just shows 0psi. FPEFPrs thats the only pid I see for fuel pressure. It's not a long crank and no start, it's a will start for a second and shut off. His dash even sometimes says to shut off and wait 10 seconds.

Ok checked fuel pressure and with key on is about 55psi, cranking and running is about the same so it's not a fuel pressure issue. The car needs cranking a few times before it starts even when warm. Sometimes i've heard him try to start it like 8-10 times. When he goes to start it, it sounds like it wants to catch but then just shuts right off. Any other ideas? It's got an exhaust and a vortex intake system but don't think this would be an issue. Thanks.

Check battery cable's and grounds. Then replace the starter relay in the fuse box.

Why the starter relay?

sounds like a cranking fuel / afterstar enrichment issue

you may need to add a little more to both tables....

It cranks just fine, just takes a few times to start. Sometimes it starts right up, it's wierd. Think the aftermarket vortex CAI would do it? I wouldn't think startup and idle it would effect it that much even if the MAF is off. But guess if the maf is way off at startup that would effect the enrichment huh?

again......
it needs more afterstart enrichment fuel....
and it wont hurt to add a little to the cranking fuel table either...

cold air intake? means you need more fuel because you are getting more air...

Table B3632
add a little for the temperatures where it cranks and starts, and then dies right away...

I wouldn't think a car with only partial exhaust and a cai would need much as far as tuning goes for cold starts. Is he still stock heads and cam? If he's getting a pull key and wait 10 seconds I bet it's something security related or maybe low voltage with the batter. Bad ground somewhere

He has gotten a couple wait 10 second errors, wow that make sense never thought of that. Does exactly what my truck did when I changed my ECM. Now it sux trying to narrow down where it is.
