Default 2002 LS Firehawk Purchase

Hey all,

I'm looking to purchase an 02 Firehawk with the LS1. I have an LT1 Hawk currently and am unfamiliar with the LS motor. Anything I should look out for specifically? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for tips......any particular reason the sail panel bubbles? Also, anything special to look out for with the engine/trans? This is a 6 speed car.

The sail panel bubbles due to GM changing the glue they used to adhere the sail panel to the car. I'm not 100% sure when the changed the glue but I think it was somewhere in '99-'00, and the new glue caused a reaction with the fiberglass sail panel. You can do a search to find more info on it, but it seems to effect the darker cars in hot climates more, but there is no solid answer to if it will happen or not: https://ls1tech.com/forums/paint-bod...e-dummies.html

If the door panels are not already do the !staple mod, if they already are cracked, they can be "repaired" to look better but not perfect. There are a lot of different methods on that, heres one: https://ls1tech.com/forums/pontiac-f...uote-pics.html

For a 6-speed car make sure that the tranny goes in and stays in each gear, and make sure the rear end isn't whining or popping.

Call SLP to verify it is a true Hawk, but I'm sure you already knew that one since you have a LT1 Hawk.

Good luck, and post some pictures after you check it out!

That's what I was looking for, especially the part about the transmission. Pretty unfamiliar with the 6 speed so every little bit helps.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the roof but the passenger door panel was cracked.

The car comes with a birth certificate that includes the VIN so it should be a real Hawk.

We made an offer on the car and will be picking it up Saturday barring nothing majorly wrong with the transmission as I haven't driven it yet.

I'll post pics once i get it here and clean it up

So here's a couple of quick pics.....car has a few issues like it needs tires, a good detail and the p420 code is popping up but other than that it's pretty solid.

I'm sure I'll find more things as I play with it

What's the good PVC system? I'll look for the cooler tomorrow when I'm working on it.

Thanks guys! Car looks better in the pics than in real life but it's still a nice car and the wife loves it. I'll be fixing things a little at a time!

Now if I could just get the other one done!
