Default HP tuners credit question

recently picked up the hp tuners vcm suite package with the mpvi pro and the 8 credits it comes with.

im looking to tune my swapped ls1 car and have been reading up on the credit system and am a little confused.

i have 05 AT silverado pcm hooked up running drive by wire in my 240sx. engine combo is an ls1 out of a 98 vette with a t56 out of an fbody. since it licenses the os thats on the pcm will i not be able to load a tune with a manual trans? and also everytime i want to edit my tune and flash it on the pcm im going to have to use 2 credits?

new to the software so excuse all the questions

You will license the PCM as a 2005 silverado and that will charge you 2 credits. You can then change the transmission to manual through the VCM Editor.

no and when you go to reflash it, just click on write calibration only instead of write entire. its quicker that way

You can't just change the trans option. You will need to license a vette file and write entire to make the change to a manual tune. Since the 98 OS can't be loaded on the pcm you have you will need to use a 99+ file.

i got an email from jay at HP that said in the new beta software there is an option to change trans from auto to manual in the while using the truck licensed ecu. i havent tried it yet but thats what he said. should have the motor and the wiring done this weekend so i suppose i will have an answer then if it works or not XD

Yeah we added the switch in mainly for the Australian & late model truck crowd as gm didn't always offer a segment that was compatible so the switch is a worst case scenerio switch in reality.

not to jack this thread too much but I too have installed an 02 silverado motor and ECU into my 1968 pickup. It ran like that for a while but I just swapped to a t56 manual I have just orderd HP tuners pro so that will need to be one of my first things to do.
You mention the switch is a worse case scenerio. Does that mean we should do something different or can I just flip this new switch and my troubles will go away?
I dont want to burn thru 4 credits just to get a manual configuration.

Pretty much you can try the trans switch but if you end up with idle issues you will have to start with a manual file
