Default re-tune required after gutting cats?

so i got my initial tune after finally getting my build completed. its a forged 347 with an ls6 top end. mid length headers and 2.5inch duals. i have a d1sc providing 9lbs of boost. the car was tuned with the cats installed. I'm in the process of gutting the cats now so the exhaust wont get all plugged up. Is gutting the cats a significant enough of a change to require a tune? Could gutting the cats make the tune potentially unsafe, or will the tune not be optomized? Does it remove alot of back pressure?

Extra tuning on a boosted vehicle is always a good thing if you can afford it.

Thanks for the input. I was considering meth so maybe I will get it all knocked out at once.
