I will be using the br30 in my new 408 with comp cam 247. 263 cam and trickflow 245 heads. My engine builder told me to use the joe Gibbs ls30 oil so that's what I'm going to use but I just want some thoughts on this oil

I am personally not a fan of synthetics and run Valvoline's VR1 conventional oil in straight 30W ... my local O'Reilly's typically keeps it in stock for several locals and can get it in 24 hours if they run out of stock. Any motor oil that is high in ZDDP will do as long as your not running cats. Just be sure to choose the correct weight whether straight or multigrade for your weather and engine.

Yes, but they also have a high performance street oil that is good for a lot longer. I go 3000 miles on the HR1 15w50 in my 418 TSP. And will be switching to the synthetic HR3 15w50 after I have 5000 miles on the new engine.
Also used the Joe Gibbs break in oil that came with the engine.

I just put it in my car 4 weeks ago from a non-syn of the same weight.
The oil temps are lower. Car went faster this weekend for the condions I ran in.
I like what I see inthe data with load on the motor the pressure is just a little higher but the pressure when not under a heavy load is the same.
The rep told me it is good for a daily driver.

Good info here but I'll b going with the joe Gibbs br30 for break in and I'll run there ls30 after and see how she does. I know higher zinc is better in these engines but I ran mobile one synthetic oil in it all the time and spun a bearing so I won't be using it no more. I rather pay for better oil than having to pay for this again

Joe Gibbs, Kendall, and Brad Penn. I do not use anything else and do not recommend anything else.
