Default OE Part Vendors / Searchable part no. database?

Hey guys,

Just entering the LS1 world, I'm in the process of going through all the faq's and stickies on this forum, but wanted to hear from you guys where you buy OE parts for your motors? Not interested in ordering from a dealer if I can avoid it. Also I was wondering if a searchable online database for part numbers exists? Coming from the bmw world we have realoem.com which is really nice for looking up part numbers/diagrams.

any tips/advice is much appreciated.

I like to order stuff from gmpartsdirect.com as they are cheapest most of the time. I also like to use gmpartsgiant.com as you can view the part numbers and diagrams there

Online resources such as gmpartsdirect can be better than a dealer but it depends on what you want. If you need header bolts for example, sure they're $1-$2 cheaper for the set online but they charge you shipping, so going to a dealer is cheaper. I'm sure if you're buying expensive items the shipping cost included will still be cheaper but for small stuff compare with a dealer.

Scoggin Dickey has a pretty good supply chain of GM parts. better to talk one on one with them and they are a sponsor on here. GMpartsdirect, rockauto etc have good listed prices but rape you in shipping.
