running different size tires changes the gearing therefore your rpm at the end of the quarter.. its just part of the figuring out what your goals are. some people run 26/27/28's
i run a 26 and have no need for a 28 because i run 3.55's

I had 26's with a 3.90 gear. Going to 28's made the 3.90 gear feel like a 3.62. I put in 4.33's now and it's perfect.
The pro's are better traction because of a bigger footprint and more sidewall flex. I really believe the car rides better too, even with a full suspension and QA1s set on 12 in the back. But, if you're an M6, don't bother with drag radials. I'm only at 400rwhp, and I get crap for traction trying to launch a dozen different ways with lots of adjustment available. ET Drags are my next purchase, that way this thing can eat.
Before I bought my 28s, I read that alot of people did no modification to make them fit. I mounted mine on Billet Specialties Street Lites with 7.5" backspacing (F body specific). To get these to fit, I had to remove the bumpstops, and grind down the bracket that they bolt to even with the inner wheel house. It also needed a slight amount of BFH in the front corner of each wheelwell.
All in all, it was a good mod and they look nice. Glad I did it.

What size rim? I had a 28' Hoosier drs on a 15x8 wheel perfect. If you run a 10 in wide rim yes you have to move the bump stop. Or a 9 inch wide you should be fine just have to get the right backspacing

If your stock height in the rear you will be fine,i have 15x10a 7.5bs on a 28inch nitto dr, fits fine, abs /brake light is a pain, and sometimes low trac will kick on during braking, it does look alot better though, really depends on your setup if you will gain at the track, a bigger tire helped me more,

Will I lose?
My best is 12.2 @ 115mph with stock rims and 26" ET streets.
I'm getting my first drag setup, if I go 28" will my et or mph suffer?
I have 4.11 12 bolt
