Default Moser 9'' 31 spline axles how much hp?

So I recently got a Moser 9'' w/4.30 gear, spool, and 31 spline axles in my M6 Trans Am.

My question is on an ET Drag will I twist my 31's? How much hp are they good too? Right now the car sits at 408/392 but will be closer to 450 next week and then nitrous..

Just wondering how much strain they are good for on an M6

Goto brute speeds website and find the axles ad and there is a formula that will tell you the value of your car leaving out of the hole and then compare that to what each axle is rated at.

Hope that helps

I though the cases were different for 35/4O's vs the 28/31/33

Something to do with not being able to fit the bearings for the 35's into the smaller case.

I've just heard that the Moser 31's on an M6 car with a sticky tire had give people problems in the past.

Getting ready for a 402 w/P1SC so sure hope it holds

The one I found before was talking about trac-loc. Guy had 31 spline trac-loc posi and he was getting one wheel burnouts because of bad clutches. Wasn't a problem with the splines. My bad

Care to be a bit more specific I don't understand.

I thought there were two cases
3.026" bearings for 28-31-33 spline centers
and 3.25" bearing for 35-40 spline centers

That was the way the guy at Quick Performance made it out, said if I ever planned to go up to 35 since I was M6 then I should just start there and eat the cost, because it would cost the same amount to do it over because I would be buying the diff and case and axles to go 35 later from say a 31.

switching from 35 to 40 is the problem. IIRC the 40 axles are bigger which requires a larger end for the bearing. If you dont switch the end then a thinner bearing is used which can be problematic.

Let me know if your interested. LOL

I have this same set up. one day when the trac loc wears out, I will get a built center section again with the aluminum housing and a spool or the wave track. take some weight out of it.

If I'm not stupid, I think I found some spools to handle the 35 splines using small bearings on our favorite auction site...

You can run a 35 Spline Axle in a Small Bearing Case with a Mark Williams Spool that is made for that application. I'm not sure if it requires Mark Williams Axles or Stock Type Splines!

I twisted a few 31 spline Moser shafts on my 8.8". I ended up with Mark Williams shafts and they're working great.

Although at only 400hp or so, I doubt they will ever come to any harm no matter what tyres you use.
