Default bolt on 98 z28 vs 2005 bmw m3 coupe

on the way home from dropping my girl off for work, i had a douche bag in a m3 fly up on my ***
he rode me for a couple minutes, then tried to fly around me.
so naturally i threw it back into 3rd from a 70 roll (tires did atleast 2 full rotations)
from 70 to 110 i had him by a car
few minutes later (after we got passed the spot the cops like to sit)
i tried pulling up next to him (since he did a ricer flyby) and he just stomped it
i started shaking my head so he slowed down and got next to me.
at this point i was still doing 80 so once we got even we both mashed it, i stayed in 4th and pulled half a car to about 115
not very much of a race, but i was proud lol.
was a nice looking car.
deepdish wheels in the back
i have no idea his mods. my mods are in my sig
anyone think it was turbo/supercharged?

If he was boosted he would have destroyed you. Supercharged or Turbo. Sounds to me like a well driven, well maintained, and somewhat modified E46 M3. With the right bolt ons they can match up to a bolt on LS1. Especially from an 80 roll. They are geared perfectly for high speed.

Yup sounds right to me. I had a similar experience expect it was a punk kid who just got one lol. Pulled about 1.5-2 cars. Good kill, they're quicker than most people assume.

Reason being; 2/5 of them are actually up to date on maintenance. With a car like this, maintenance is very crucial and will easily make or break a race.

Odd, when my old Z28 was at around 345whp, I trained the hell out of an E46 M3 with 29x whp. He said he was modded and had weight reduction. The faster we went the harder I pulled. We ran from 65-75 rolls, at the bottom of my 3rd gear (3.42 rear).

I found that with a 3.42 rear, my Z28 was really strong from a 60 roll (still in 2nd gear), and once I shifted into 4th at ~110 I pulled on several cars with 'better' gearing. It was I shifted into 5th that the ratio was not ideal. With a 3.42 rear, 4th is a solid pull gear.

Even stock, a Z28 should have no issue pulling an E46 M3.

What are you putting down to the tire? Maybe the shift into 5th (did you get there with the 4.10's?) killed your momentum.

Putting this into perspective. I do believe you since you were modded but. My car from an 80 roll is slightly above peak torque in 4th. I don't come out of 4th until 138 mph and 5th I can carry to 170 mph. So while you are shifting into 4th I am pulling back.

for an NA straight 6 the m3 does really well. I'm not surprised that the OP got the W though. I doubt it was FI.

see thats exactly what i thought.
which is why i thought maybe he had a turbo or supercharger.
i thought id put trains on a little beemer.
i hate the 4:10's. its killing my roll races, and blows the tires away from a dig.
2nd and 3rd are my strong gears.
im not sure what im putting down.
it needs a tune really bad.
ive seen some people putting down 340whp with my exact setup.
its running a little lean on both banks.
that could be hurting me as well.

i do a ton of highway driving
like 30-50 miles a day
so 4:10's really arnt ideal for me
id rather have the factory 3:42's or even 3:73's
i spin all the way through 1st, and half through 2nd. thats with 295/35/18 bfg g force tires.

Check you fuel pressure and make sure the pump is still working up to par.

Also, a tune will do wonders. You'd be surprised. I would check on those two items and see what happens.

Did the car come with the 4.10's?

Sounds about right for a stockish-bolt-on E46 m3.

yeah i bought the car with them. its about time for a rebuild. clutch packs scream when i take a turn. still preforms fine with no other noises.
as for fuel pressure, ive been meaning to check it. just havent.

raced my buddies stock auto 2000 z28 tonight. (and i mean completely stock except for k&n filter) from a 40-110 i pulled 3 cars on him
from 60-110 i had him by half a car
i know i have a slipping clutch. the rear main leaks like a ****. that could also be some of my problems, which im currently waiting on funds to fix.

which im also waiting on funds to tune it lol.
im a noob when it comes to hptuners and cant afford to pay someone to tune it at the moment.
