Default New ride, 2007 Impala SS, and the first mod!

Hello,

Been off the forum for a while... I had to sell my 99 Camaro SS (Hugger Orange) because I got Military orders to MA, and a rear wheel drive 6 speed would not do well in the winters here.

After moving and getting settled, I wanted a FWD car, or an AWD car... so I ended up getting this 2007 Impala SS last week. It has 54k, black leather, and was a one owner. The car is super super clean. I love it... Big enough for the whole family, and plenty of smooth power.

Of course I started looking at things to do, and so I ordered the black depot lights (still to be delivered) for a cleaner looking front end. Also polished Chevy bow tie front and rear emblems to replace the gold (still to be delivered). I lastly bought some gloss black pillar covers, as they were faded pretty good, even with the low miles, I guess it was a weak spot on these cars.

Here are some pictures of them, by far, the best $36 mod I have ever spent (they are on sale now, original price is $59) and were shipped super fast, think I had them in 3 days.

Car the day I got it

Showing the rear pillar on with protective sheet still on:

Before and Afters:

Done:

They go on easy, strong peal and stick, and the face has a film on it as well so you don't scratch them putting the on... Great quality product!

Here is a link to where you can get a set:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/230690764869...84.m1439.l2649

Going to get 35% tint done tomorrow so more pics to come...

Thanks for looking!

Thanks guys for the welcome! Its good to have a car to tinker around with again. I have sent an email to Lew with http://www.diablewtune.com/ about tune info already! Other than the tune, I would like a full CAI, a set of flowmaster original 40 series mufflers then should be set... but thats what we all say!

Welcome aboard! Make sure your pillar covers on the back are glued on really good, my back driver side blew off one day going down the interstate! Some BS!

you tell him to get a good tune, but then tell him to go there??? heh... may be ok for your trans am, but not for these cars...

you know how many of "those" tunes I've been re-doing/fixing for people lately for these LS4's????

the last one I fixed for a guy with a gxp, I gained him 4 tenths in the 1/4 mile over that other tune he had previously... yes, 4 tenths, has the before and after slips to prove it... that's easily at least a 30 hp gain, not to mention the much better transmission shifting firmness, quicker/faster shifting, smoother, etc that I also gained him...

nobody knows these cars/LS4 ecm/tcm's like I do... seeing as how I've had mine since Nov. 2005 and started tuning it a month later, heh..

Thanks again guys.... I will ensure the back pillars are on, and check em often... They seem to be super strong.

As far as a tune, I will for sure go with Lew and the diablewtune setup, he has sent me an email, and for sure know his stuff. He seems to be very thorough and involved 100% in what he does... It will for sure be the next investment for me (hopefully in a few weeks).

I got the tint, lights, and silver emblems on today and the car cleaned up, some more pics to come by tomorrow!

I was going to go look at one this week but i dont know how i feel about them yet,but with the prices of 96 impalas i figured it was better to get something new,

Car looks really good. I may need to pick up a set of depos.

Bone stock most people run between 14.0-14.4 depending on 60'. As far as hp goes if you go n/a route there is a member running 12.5x on street tires with H/C/I. Or there's a turbo kit you can make 400+ whp.

Of all the things GM could have done to differentiate the SS from the other models, the depo lights do more than any wheels or window trim or fog lights could ever do. Looking very good!

Thanks guys...

Your right, the depot lights should of came as an option with the SS, it is just enough to make the front end look a little sportier.

BOBS99SS, they are quick, plenty quick! From what I have read and the numbers, it is quicker than its older predecessor models. Most of the 0-60 times online are 5.6-5.8 for these models. Plus it rides really nice, plenty of room ( I have 3 small kids ridding in the back ) and the price is better than its competition (Magnum R/T, 300 Hemi, Charger R/T) and the 0-60 times are TAD quicker then these too (even though they make 37 more hp)! I do ALSO like the FWD idea, as I just moved to Mass, and from what I hear obviously the rear wheel drive cars are not ideal up here. Overall, a winner in my book - I am impressed with it.

Just ordered a Magnaflow cutout for the exhaust too! I do not want something loud all the time, and did not want any drone for road trip reasons, so I got the non electric cutout that can dump the exhaust near the passenger wheel before it splits off into two. Its only 3 small bolts to remove the plate when you want to roll around with a little more grumble, and where I will install it, you will not need to jack the car up to do so. I will, for now, still have the cat and resonators so it should not be too obnoxious.

Here is the info:

Install pics will come once it arrives!
