If you are buying pistons then dont buy a new set and flycut them. Buy some made with the reliefs cast into them!

How many miles are on the engine that you have? If it is less than 100,000 and the oil in the pan doesn't look bad then you are alright. The LQ4 has a dish on the pistons that is almost 7cc. With the stock heads you are about 9.5:1 compression ratio. If you really want to change the compression ratio dramatically you have to get new heads.

Also, dished pistons do nothing for ptv clearance.

Do it once do it right, get a decent set of forged pistons with valve reliefs already cut. Mahle powerpak pistons are decent and relatively cheap. They come with rings and pins. By the time you buy the speed pro pistons, rent the tool to cut them, or pay to have them cut and buy rings, you will be very close to the cost of the better forged pistons you can drop in and go

thanks thats true about the pistons they charge me here 300 for just to fly cut all 8 pistons...so ill just better buy some forged piston with valve relief....the only thing i dont get its the compression..so 370 with 317 its just the same as a 6.0 with 317 its at 9:5?
