So had a great random race happen last weekend. Was driving up north (in mexico) to see my brother. I'm passing through a town about half way up (in northern mexico) and I spot a 4th gen SS behind me, looks nice. Road goes back into two lanes and he slowly passes me and gives me a wave, sounds modded. A couple miles later he pulls off the highway on to some side street (again, northern mexico). I didn't think anything of it and keep going. I happen to look in my rearview and he is just parked there. He just turned on the street and just stopped. I still keep going for a few more seconds. I look up again and he is still there. I decided to go check it out. I turn around and get up to him and roll down the window. I said, "Is it just me or did you wanna run em'?" He just smiles and says yup.

Long story short it was a car that was at the dyno at a car show earlier this year when my car had bolt ons only (393whp). He was h/c M6 and made 431. Not sure on the specs of the heads/cam/etc...On the same dyno with my cam, my car makes 450/430. I followed him to a good spot and we ran twice. First was a dig and he had some big radials on there and busted my *** with my 245 sumitomos lol. Next we did a 40 roll and by 120 I had about 2.5 cars and pulling. He gives a thumbs up and off he goes.

Kinda small world, I though it was pretty random and pretty awesome.

Cliff notes: 450whp cammed GTO pulls a H/C ls1 ss (431whp) by a couple cars from a roll and looses by a couple from a dig.

how does your gto make so much power with stock heads?... Your parts list isnt exactly all out. Id say generous dyno but if your putting a few cars on a h/c 430whp car id say its making the power. Nice setup

that was std, but the camaro was also rated the same way. Sae I made 441/419. I have a ported intake/tb, udp, no cats, etc...Aside from a fast I have all the "little stuff" covered. Plus its a pretty stout cam.

well its performing well so good setup. That cam must work really well with the stock 243 head

Thanks. Its got the new lsl lobes from comp. So the ramp rates are supposed to be pretty aggressive and give better midrange or so I'm told. But yea my roomate has a 02' c5z with Lt's, vararam and tune (by me as well, actually both my roomates run my tunes lol) and its pretty much a drivers race so it runs pretty well. My car is also 3500 flat w/o me with not much gas.

Thats a pretty decent weight. The lowest mine ever saw was 3250.. but that was without the passenger seat. So around 3315 with the passenger seat. That was on stock wheels too

What I was thinking. Probably 430rwhp on a average dyno but it doesn't matter, just matters that the Camaro made 20rwhp less.
You had a GTO evan? If so, I think you set the record for lightest new gen GTO by at least 100lbs.

Yes i did. I think there were a few lighter then me but they were race cars. Mine came in at around 3250 but again that was with no passenger seat and a rear seat delete in. With the passenger seat in it was around 3315
