Default 12.3 @ 109, what to do next?

Well I'm stuck on what to do next. Car has BBK long tubes, catted y-pipe, ported stock throttle body, Hooker 2 1/2" aero chamber catback, 4k stall converter and tuned by Frost. I have only owned this car for about 3 weeks, everything was done by the previous owner. I also negotiated a TSP 228r cam package in the deal. So my question is this, the car is my daily driver, would the 228r 112 be a good street able cam? What ,besides springs and pushrods, else would I need to do the swap? Any other suggestions on parts that would complement what I already have? I know how how much everyone likes pics so here are a few. I'm #5608 btw.

I'd say the 228R is a good cam for a DD, it'll need tuned though. In addition to springs and pushrods you may want to consider a timing chain upgrade, oil pump upgrade, and a UDP (+ODP for alternator if you want), since you'll be down there anyway.

Also, what year is it? 98-00's came with an LS1 intake manifold from the factory while 01-02's came with LS6's which flow better.

It's an 01 so I'm pretty sure it has a ls6 intake manifold. It has 160k miles but you can't tell by driving it. I paid $4,300 for it with all the mods and the new cam, pushrods, and lifters. I think I stole it from the guy.

The UD pulley is a good idea. I will be sure to grab one. With the 228r what kinda power/times should I expect?

that cam with that stall should put you into the mid to low 11s on drag radials and would still be pretty nice on the street.

Looks like I have a solid cam that will do exactly what I want. I am looking for a set of heads also, any affordable heads that will compliment my cam? Also would a 32-3600 stall work better for my application? The 4k stall is real loose on the street, even though it makes nice black marks from a 25mph roll.

keep the stall unless you want to slow down. gears would help make the stall feel better.

you left early on that pass.....

This. If you keep punishing it then it will fail.

I have only run the car on street tires, 15-18psi and 2nd gear burnouts have allowed 1.7 60ft times. I think the car is capable of 11.9's with a drag radial. I am worried the softer tire will grenade my rear.

What is the steps for a 8.8 swap? Has anyone made a how-to? I would def. like to be proactive and replace the 10 bolt before it fails.

I forgot to mention the 10 bolt has a TA Performance girdle on it. What kind of time does that buy me before it explodes?

i wouldnt worry too much about the rear yet if its stock geared. auto and big gears tend to keep the 10 bolt alive much longer (in most cases).

thats an amazing 60' time for street tires and a fairly large stall. my car cant even pull 2.0 out of street tires with a 3200 stall.

i say do 243 heads, 228 cam, ls2 timing chain and gear, the rite push roods, 3.90 gears, ls7 lifters, ud pully, high flow oil pump, street radials, and it should be beast and run 11's just watch out for your rear.

^ That above is what I would do at this point of what you have on the car.

I recently acquired a set of GTO spares and opened my cut-out, results were new PB of 12.2 @113 mph. My 60 ft times are still 1.72. I need a good set of drag radials and hope to be in the 11's.

Any recommendations on a set of 15" radials? I would like to stay with a 26" tire.
