Default Am I on the right track with my 383ls1 build?

So this little build just started. Of course like everyone else, I would like to hit that 480-500rwhp mark along with a healthy torque curve since its mostly a street car.
Its a m6 car as well. Anyhow heres my plan

98 block with 3.905 bore
Tsp 383 rotating assembly
Healthy custom cam
Fast 90/90 combo
Ported 243 heads or Patriot heads????
1 7/8 headers
Ati damper
Somewhere around 11:1 compression

Really unsure if the patriots would get to that mark? I thought about buying some 799/243's and getting them ported, but I dont know what the cost would be for porting.

This will be all n/a. Would this get me close to where I want to be? I know its kinda hard to say without cam specs, but I know I want a custom cam, so I dont really have any specs on hand. I know I love the way my tr230 lopes, so a healthy cam for a stroker motor with keeping the powerband under 6500rpm if at all possible.

If you are looking at some heads on a budget I would recommend you take a look at our PRC as cast 225 heads. I think they will give you the best chance of hitting your power goals without spending a ton of money. I think its a great price for an aftermarket casting head with larger valves.

PRC> ported 243> patriot, IMO. I would rather have some new PRC's over used ported 243's. Either way, you should be able to reach your goal.

Good info on the heads, thanks.

Whats a round about size cam I would be looking at that would hit my goals with whats listed above and still put the powerband under 6500rpm with similar characteristics of my tr230? Or does an off the shelf cam like that even exist?

Im going custom on the cam, im just wondering whats close to the size I would be looking at

I typically recommend guys take a look at our Magic Stick cams for the 383s. While they are still large cams the extra cubes and stroke really helps tame the cam down a bit. I think it will have the size needed to make the power you are asking for while keeping some decent drivability as long as the tune is good.

You will not regret getting a custom cam. There are some good cam guys that will make you the exact cam that will fit your combination. Custom is the only way to go in my opinion.
