Default LS1 GTO or Trans AM

Just curious. Which of the two is easier to work on?

Get a car that you like driving, not working on. Otherwise none of us F body owners would exist.

But to answer your question - F bodys are easier to work on, in my opinion, but I think thats because I've owner four and haven't had a GTO yet.

Engine work looks like it'd be easier on the GTO, because there's more room to work.

I think your right, i looked at my buddys gto awhile back and it looked like you could get to everything on the motor. On TAs half the motor is under the cowl and makes it more of pain. But I still think TA is a better car.

The GTO is an engine-service friendly car. F-body, not so much. I'm not sure about the suspension aspect of the GTO; never really looked under one. Personally I prefer the solid axle setup. Parts for a Goat are a bit more expensive as well.

there is more room in a GTOs engine bay compared to fbodies.

i like how my SS feels more planted with an SRA but i like how my GTO rides thats why its my DD.

parts can be ridiculous price wise for GTOs but theyre not giving away stuff for 4th gens either.

With the LS1 GTO, you could just get parts for a Camaro or trans Am if it's engine related, correct?

The GTO's are better for engine maintenance/work because they have a good amount of room more compared to a F-body, but I still prefer my T/A all day long. I feel they have a better all around design but that is pure opinion. My best advice is get what you like the most.

Hello, I'm a new member, just joined today. My $.02: get what "you" like. I have an 01 SS and love it. Yes it is a pain to work on under the hood, but I just deal with each issue as they come. Parts are readily available And getting cheaper every year. So at least that's not an issue. It all comes down to personal preference.

Up top the GTO has more room but not underneath.

Theres a lower control arm that likes to go out on GTOs & I have heard sway bar bushings too. Because its made by Holden everythings ridiculous & harder to find.

Dude, get an F-body. Put the extra 5-10 grand you'd spend on the GTO into parts for the WS-6. Then beat the GTO.

ws6 for sure. my buddy has a gto and everything is expensive as heck. also the shifter install time is like 2 hours because you have to take off the trans crossmember and drop er down a bit. I know this because my friend wanted me to come do it this weekend. on the flip side I installed mine in 20 mins. I feel as if the f bodys are just better cars.

Maybe better to work on, but I'd say for quality the GTO's are probably better.
