Default My Twin Turbo 1968 Chevelle Build Start to Finish- Lots of Pics!

Ok, so I finally decided to make a thread about my Chevelle. Been a building cars for a while. Seems that every year I build one and sell it. What can I say..I love making cars go fast!

I originally intended this to be a LS powered Chevelle before I bought it. I was going to start off N/A then do the turbo kit over this winter....but that wasn't soon enough. So after 2 months of working on it at night after the kids were asleep it was a reality.

This car was originally a Calafornia car ended up in Florida. It never lived near salt. This is not a show car but it is a VERY nice driver. The car retains every option and then some. Weighs in at 3950lbs., I am 210lbs.

I wanted a pump gas reliable 9 second car that I could drive to the track and back.

Keep in mind this was ENTIRELY built by myself in my garage. Car has NEVER been on a lift.

Enjoy!

Shafiroff 402 that was in the car when I bought it.

This was what I started with. However, a board member on this site tried to bend me over. Sold me this motor missing head bolts, rockers, and other misc items. It was going to be a stock drop in but I went through the whole thing. Oh yeah, the board member compensated me with the use of my Attorney. I hate scammers! Moving on!

I rebuilt the 6.0 Truck LS bottom half, new bearings, rings (gapped for big boost), and ARP rod bolts.

Car has gone 10.2 @ 135mph @ 13.7lbs of boost on pump gas and meth. This was on a 95* day with track temps over 120*. 3950lb raceweight.

This was done with with a 2001 LQ4 Stock Casting 317's and a stock rod & piston.

This setup makes a TON of power. Funny thing is at that boost level it was just starting to become effecient. Another 8-10lbs of boost would be stupid with a forged short.

I've been tossing around the idea of selling the car and building something else again. If anyone is interested I would consider selling it for $35k.

Never on this exact setup. I'm sure it's making north of 750rwhp on 13.5lbs to be able to trap 135mph.
Nearly 4,000lbs and as aerodynamic as a barn door.

That car is a couple hundred pounds of weight reduction from the nines. Gorgeous idea and execution. My wife likes the blue. Too bad she doesn't like it enough to spend 35K on it. For that sort of money she'd want a '68 Mustang ragtop.

(PS that isn't really a hint for next year's plaything, I want to build one for her myself, in 3-5 years when she'd have enough time to actually enjoy it)

If the 60ft was there it would have gone in the 9's. First time ever to the track with this setup.

Went to Union Grove, Wi. Made a handful of 1/8 mile runs getting the shift points right and dialing in the boost. Made 1 full pass on 13.5-13.7lbs.
