Default How unlucky am I....

How often do valves break....I had one break in my cam only '99 SS. And what on earth causes this to happen?

you don't have to adjust preload on LSX's, right? I would say maybe the lash was incorrect and the valve was tapping the seat, but that shouldn't be an issue.

Have you taken the heads off to see if there was any piston to valve contact?

Maybe the springs lost enough pressure for the valve to drop enough and make contact with the piston. The fact that it broke while taking it easy could mean that the contact was not severe to shatter anything, but enough to maybe weaken the valve eventually leading to a break even when not actively making contact.

What type of valve were you running in it? The original ones?

yea they were the stock heads w/ stock valves. I'll post pictures later, but there was piston damage from where the valve dropped and was being smacked around....
