Default Lowering and dual exhaust

this is my first ls1 car its a 2000 trans am 6 speed car. Has 85,000. Just picked it up 3 days ago and so far really like it. I am wanting to do long tube headers with dual exhaust.. I heard its a tight fit but can be done. Then i also want to lower it. Then i was told that with duals it might scrap then have get different shocks and struts...? Basically just want to know what most of you guys do when doing a dual exhaust and lowering your vehicle...
thanks
kevin

Most setups I have seen that are low enough that have clearance problems have a custom exhaust that is tucked up to the car tight so it doesn't hit the ground. Not to say some guys get away with running lt's and a bolt on exhaust but I would just run a custom exhaust to save the headaches.

eBay headers and y pipe had more clearance than stock...duals would drag with an aggressively lowered setup.

I had a texas speed true dual, it scraped everywhere and it was done right. I went and got a custom exhaust and its perfect. But if your going true duals I would not lower my car at all.

I have Kook LT's on BMR springs (1.5" drop IIRC)

my LT's scrape everywhere lol! its so damn annoying and makes me cringe! but the lowered look is SOOO WORTH IT. id rather scrape for 2 seconds once a week and have a lowered car that handles like its on rails.

this is a recent pic of my car (first one) my buddies car (not lowered) than my other buddies car with a 1.75" drop :O

gives you a good idea from at least the front of how much better it looks.

1.5" Drop.............................................. .................................................. ...................STOCK HEIGHT .................................................. ............. 1.75" Drop.......................

I have ran several setups on a few different lowered cars, and by far the best tucking exhaust I had (although not true duals) was when I ran our TSP LTs, TSP ORY, and Mufflex 4" over the axle catback. I know it sounds crazy, but the 4" Mufflex system tucked better than the custom 3" that was on it before.

Ive heard stories of people getting the TSP Rumbler X 3" to tuck up nicely under the car, and some have even claimed that it retained the stock height. Id love to have true duals, but i also want to lower my car about 1.5" Im still unsure about what im going to do.

Ill have this setup in a few days (already lowered 1.5in, installing LTs + TSP true duals today), will chime back in when I have driven it. Hopefully the findings are good!

Id wouldent lower, pinching headers and clearance issues are not cool and not worth it in my view. I must say lowered looks sick though!
