Default Tool insurance?

Just seeing what my options are. Any of you automotive tech's have insurance for your tool's? And what does most insurance company's cover? I work at a little mom and pop shop and one of the tech's ran into my tool cart. The owner pretty much just looked at it and walked away. The tech is a poor *** douche and can't come up with 1300.00 to buy a new cart.

I would use that to beat $1300 out of the tech that did that if he wouldn't pay.

tool insurance is waaaaaaaaayyyyy expensive. it's cheaper in the long run to just buy a new cart unless things like that are gonna keep happening

I've heard some guys claiming stolen stuff on their homeowners insurance. Not sure how that works, just what I heard.

I personally would look for another job. Then when you find one...come back and beat the **** out of the guy that damaged your box. That is just wrong..heck..file a police report and take him to small claims court.

In any situation like this we either replace our techs tool box or have it repaired. One of our stores recently had a truck come off the alignment rack and into a triple bank snap on box and roll cart. Tech was paid full value for the cart and tool box was repaired.

Looks like just the drawer was damaged? Sounds/looks fixable to me... and probably not $1300.

You didnt damage it, so why should you have to be the one to fix it. **** that. Whoop the **** out that ******* then quit. Or tell the owner that he needs to take it out of the other guys check and give it to you. It seems like a shop that you don't need to work at anymore.

I'd love to stomp the **** out of the guy but that's just going to cost me more money. I'm looking for a new job. Any of you guys work at a transmission shop that's hiring? I can build, r&r, sell, pretty much work any area in a transmission shop.

my company offers insurance. its only $1 per 1000 of coverage per month. i wouldnt think if you got it for yourself it wouldnt be that bad. it only covers theft and fire i believe.

That stinks to see. It looks like 1 drawer has been damaged. Is this not an available part from the manufacturer? Doesn't seem to need that much money thrown at it.

Sue? I mean that's what courts are for isn't it? Guy damages your property and then nothing happens, lawyer up.
