Default Lloyd Elliot heads...

I have been doing searches on his work and found he is real big in the LTX world but was curious if anyone has had any good dealings with his Ls heads. I'm looking at different options for heads and am stuck between some prc heads or having some heads ported and worked. I'm still undecided on cam and I still have a few questions needed answered but my main concern was bang for the buck kind of thing.

i had him do some heads from my 99 trans. am back in 00-01. they came out very good, and was very pleased with the performance. flow numbers were around 310ish intake with stock valves, at .600lift.
i didnt get a chance to dyno with the heads, but the car made 385hp 376tq with 224 cam, midlength headers, ls6 intake, ported throttle body, and ud pulley.
i noticed more from the heads, than i did when i installed cam, headers, intake ported throttle body, and ud pulley all at the same time.

My brother had him do a set of heads...which happen to be for sale...and he was very pleased. He had him do his 241 heads with patriot springs, 2.02/1.60 valves and flow 302/217 at .600. Same as the guy above we felt more from the heads than from his 222 cam.

I'm getting the 223/227 cam and le2 heads for my '98 camaro z28 from Llyod i'm paying an extra $150 for heads hes going to provide because i dont want to take my stock ones off yet. I hope he does the 243 heads, instead of the 241's because i guess the 241's will be near stock compression 10:1 ? Or it doesnt matter really ?

243 and 241 heads will give the same compression, you can get any head milled to lower chamber size this increasing compression.

The 243s will net slightly more compression than the 241s. 65cc vs 67cc. but you can get them milled to get any compression ratio u want.

This. Or run the 5.3L castings for smaller chambers.

I still say a larger cam would be better.

I looked into purchasing a set of "damaged" le2 243's from a friend of mines c5 zo6. They were suppose to have been ported by Lloyd Elliot, but that could not be actually confirmed because be bought the car with the heads on it, which were installed by the previous owner. Anyway. The le2 heads were taken by me to a machine shop to be pressure checked before I bought them from the friend. Long story short, the heads had several areas that did not hold pressure and that had cracked through the water jackets. I didn't go any further than that, and did not buy then.
