lsx 240z people I need help
I recently bought a 240z with out motor or trans and am wanting to know what it will take to get me into the low 10s-high 9s range. I have a pretty decent budget on this project(15k) will that be enough? I have been leaning towards the Aes 390ci lq9 short block is that a good choice or should I keep looking for different routes? Any help will be much appreciate.

You are going to need part of that budget to upgrade the rear. At a minimum some type of posi or welded diff and probably bigger than the R180 that is in there. If you stay IRS get an R200 and 280 stub axles. CV half shafts would be a good idea also. I have seen quite a few solid axle swaps.
As for motor nitrous could be the cheap route.

I am currently swapping an L76 6 liter in my 240Z, my old set up would run 9.70's on a 175 shot, just an AFR headed 383 with 700r4 trans. You will need to bulk up the *** end though!

If your budget is 15K, it'll take 30
Seriously though, If you're gonna go bare bones, you can get it driving for say 5. HOWEVER that doesnt include ANY upgrades to your 40 year old car (bushings, brakes, rust) and that is all stock components.
Yes it can be done, but you needn't spend money on a 390" short block to do it.
