Hot cam Help!
Ok guys I have decided to go with the hotcam for my swap. cause its inexpensive and a good DD.. dont judge. anyway.. while i have everything apart I will also be throwing in a new timing chain and hardened pushrods. A friend recommended that i might as well change my rockers as well.. Im fine with doing that but I have no Idea what size and what brand to go with.. I also dont know what size pushrods I should get.. 7.4? I dont know.. Can you guys tell me what all I should replace, what sizes, what brands, and anything else I should do before I start. I want to have all the parts together that I will need or should get so I can get it done in one weekend. Help me out here guys, I really appreciate it (newb when it comes to cams)

Stay with the stock pushrod length if using your stock lifters, as the base circle of the Hot Cam is the same.
Unless you're going 1.85:1 rockers (which have been know to give a few headaches), there's really isn't a bang-for-the-buck benefit to swapping them for full rollers in the stock ratio on a small-cam car.
There are better ways to spend $300-$500, like a good tune, which you will need with the Hot Cam.
Edit: What valve springs are you using?

ok thanks so should i replace the rockers at all? just so they are new? with an upgraded stock size rocker? i was planning on doing a tune for sure.. ill be using the ls6 springs. thats what everyone has recommended for my swap. would it be worth it at all to go with rollers? even if it just makes my valvetrain more effecient and more quiet then it would be worth it to me

Full rollers are going to run you $300-$600 depending upon the brand. On your car, you may see a couple of HP if you go stock ratio. If the stock rockers are not damaged, there's really no point in changing them unless you really want to spend the money!
You could go 1.85's, but I've heard of people having problems with them. Also, you'll need to get different springs, as the Hot Cam with 1.85 rockers makes your lift .571, which is way outside of the limits of either LS6 spring.
Instead of dumping that much dough into roller rockers and risk the valvetrain geometry problems that 1.85s can pose, why not just spend the money on a larger cam setup? I know you like the Hot Cam, and I believe it's a great cam for the money, but if you're looking for more power and have the money to spend, a bigger cam is way to go.
And I can say this because I'm running the Hot Cam in my current setup, which was done on an extremely tight budget. I'm happy with the results, but if I would have had the extra money, I would have bought a Patrick G spec'd cam from Comp.

Comp Cams roller trunnion upgrade for your rockers would be my recommendation, it replaces the only moving part prone to failure.
Be sure to mark the rockers with respect to their location, so you can re-install them on the same valves they're wear-matched to.

Yeah ive heard about the trunnion upgrade.. how much does that run? maybe your right on the rockers. I just wanted everything to be fresh so maybe ill decide once i pull them out and inspect them but i definately dont want to throw off my valvetrain geometry.. sounds like a pain. part of the reason Im going with the hotcam kit is cause its cheap so I guess buying new rockers would defeat that purpose. Ive thought about going bigger but since i will have stock flowing heads I didnt think i would see the full potential with out a better flowing head. also im deathly afraid of buying cam and have it be a pain to DD.. I know the hot cam is great for a daily. If i can get 390 to the wheels ill be happy.. about 40 more than what ive got right now and I think with that cam and a good tune with my other supporting mods that should be pretty attainable but thats my goal.. I also dont want to go bigger cause My clutch is already not so great and with the hotcam atleast it might last a little bit longer. Ive also thought about the ASA cam but for the life of me cant find anywhere to buy it.. Ive found the hotcam and springs for about 500 which is dirt cheap in my eyes. another cam i looked at was the TR 220 i believe is what its called. another reason i dont want to go bigger is because I dont want to be changing valve springs every 15k miles or so.. any other input you guys have on this would be greatly appreciated

I'd still look at the Comp Cams #54-418-11, 224(.534")/228(.537")112+2 lsa, it uses the Xtreme RPM lobes which will be easy on your valve springs.

and PAC1218 valve springs

You could even go bigger than that 228 and it would be fine as a dd as long as You're tune is on ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so the 224 or 228 will give more power and idle pretty good as long as the tune is on and not be too hard on springs .
