1989 BMW 325i LS2 6.0 swap
Here was the last full build of my car. It was a 98 M3 motor fully built with a gtx3076 on it. The motor put out 500whp on the dyno but reliability became a concern. Also piston slap annoys me and makes me have to change the oil much more often.
I drift so torque is king. Originally, I wanted an LS2 but budgets are budgets. I found a disassembled LS1 for sale pretty cheap locally with a painless harness and flashed ECU from a 99 automatic Camaro SS. A shop near me is starting to make swap kits for E30s so I'm going to give that a shot. I'm tired of fabricating everything so bolt in and go will be king.
I have much reading to do and I apologize ahead of time if I ask some beaten to death questions. There's just so much to learn about this motor.
For starters, anyone know a book or resource where I can figure out how to piece this motor back together? I have no springs/push rods/lifters/rod bearings

The fronts are real M3 fenders that I split and rewelded it an inch wider. The rears are a generic czech FG M3 replica that I also split and bonded an inch wider. The metal bent properly while the FG on the rear made more of a peak.

They don't want me to say anything until it's done. Which should be this month.
I'm not on a budget per se. I don't have crap tons of cash to toss around. I really want an LS2. Seems like the best bang for buck for general track use. I also want to keep weight down IIRC the LQ is iron block.

Long time. Much has happened lol. The company making the kit is SIKKY. They make a few other LS kits. Here's some pictures of the kit in progress. I think it'll be out sometime early this year.
Motor mounts for the E30 kit
These are 350z LS oil pans but it's basically what the E30 ones will look like.
Already started packaging the kit.
On my end of things, I finally went LS2. Only down side seems to be the DBW. 77k on the motor. full dropout from a 2005 GTO.
sad car

They are supposed to be test fitting the headers sometime any day now. The oil pans were tig welded and out for final machining but are MIA for the past 3 weeks. Unfortunately, since most of this is prototyping and/or done for pennies, this is how fast things go. The price of being cutting edge?
