Default hand held tuners... Can they tune everything or just somethings?

Im new to the ls1's.. Have 1st and 3rd gen camaro and a c4 corvette with L98. None of them you can really tune like the new engines today... I was going to be doing a few upgrades here in a month or 2..

LCA's
subframe connectors
ram air hood
headers/ 3in dual
4:10 gears
Cam/intake

I have heard the tuners can adjust to what ever gears you pick.. But how about a cam swap? Can they tune for it or do you have to have a shop tune it in?

thanks
kevin

Take it to a shop. Handhelds aren't worth it whatsoever. If you don't want to drive it to a shop get a mail order tune from Frost (you ship your PCM and he tunes it and then ships it back)

For the cam swap I would at least get a mail order, even though some handhelds I have seen do have tunes for aftermarket cams. However, in regard to smaller miscellaneous stuff like gear changes, fan speed, shift firmness, etc., etc., some handhelds can actually be alright to use

For the price of a handheld you can get a good dyno tune. Dont use the handhelds, they use a basic % increase for your spark and fueling tables which do not apply to all vehicles. The can read and clear codes, but your smartphone can do that nowadays anyway.

It would help to know where you are located OP, just so we can recommend shops if there are any around you
