turbo sizing for a 408?
Bought a 408 shortblock with -20 pistons in it, and i need a turbo to match it. The engine is going into my 07 trailblazer ss, with a 4l80e trans. This is my daily driver, and want to be somewhat streetable with pump gas, and run 110 when needed. 800 hp is my goal. The turbo will be mid mounted (underneath) and dont want laggy spoolup. I already have a 76 mm ball bearing turbonetics turbo with a. 96 a/r exh housing, and i am thinking this is too small?

Precision GT 42-76 would be a great option that would give you room to grow. Supra guys are having really good luck with the billet 6766. People are making 750whp on it. It all depends if you want 800whp or 800 crank which are entirely different numbers.

Okay, how about a B/W S480 w/racecover , with a 1.32 a/r exh hsg, 88/96mm turbine wheel, and a 80/113mm comp wheel? Have one of these too. Would a quick spool valve work?

Our new S400-80mm Billet ETR-HO is making some ridiculous power and spools a good bit quicker then the previous versions since the comp wheel is 20+ grams lighter as well. With the new 11 Blade Billet ETT design its an easy 1000hp capable unit.

turbo recommendation
FOR DR. TURBO........hello, iv been reading a lot of your posts and I even made this account to day so I could get your opinion lol and this subject is pretty much my same situation. I have a 408 Lq9 in an 02 Camaro that currently has a rear mount set up with a masterpower t76 t4 with a 1.06ar. I want to move everything up front and I feel that turbo maybe to small. I've talked to comp turbo and the recommended the CT43XR which is a 80mm compressor and a 92mm turbine t4 with a 1.15ar. iv also looked at the BW stuff and I seem like they're hard to beat for the money, and I forced inductions recommend their gt80, but those to look rather large in physical size and I'm trying to avoid cutting the car if I have to. I'd like to keep the radiator in the factor location, but if it boils down to having to do some cutting then I'll just do it. just your input would be nice and thanks for your time too, and also this is a street car that probably gets driven a lot more then raced so I'm willing to sacrifice some top end power to keep my low end with the fastest spool time possible. thank you
