Default Are kits vaialable for rings and pistons?

I am working on some engines for a crate engine only class. We must use the factory GM parts. dopes gm make a ring and piston kit for the LS3 or do you have to buy each piston and ring set seperately?

I doubt it, but I could be wrong. However, you should be able to find some low mileage take out's in the classifieds here. I'm assuming you can use shelf stock replacement rings from Hastings or similar?

If it comes down to buying all new pistons and rings, you are going to pay thru the nose for them.

Nope crate class. I have to us GM parts exclusively. Not that anyone would ever know but that not how I roll. Yup paying through the nose up here in Canada $131.00 a piston. Good thing Im going to Lake havasu in a week were I can get them for $50.00 ea. Scared of take offs. The ones I am replacing look brand new but it was in a boat and was sunk. Everyone that has sunk has blown a piston later destroying the rest of the engine with it.(thermal shock). Thanks guys.

$50.00 bucks!? I just typed in the part number for a ring pack for an LS3 piston into bing.com and came up with nalley GMC/Buick and they have them 27.70 a set. I don't know where you are in Canada but I put in Ontario as the shipping destination and it gave a me a shipping of 50.00 bucks and a grand total of $271.60 to your door.
