LQ4 Upgrade with LS2 stuff
Hello Folks,
I have a question, may sound stupid to many but I have to ask.
I try to upgrade my LS2 Engine and swap in a 3gen Camaro.
But I also have a LQ4 vortec on stock at home, all original.
Im thinking about putting all the standard LS2 parts in and on the LQ.
For instance:
Intake manifold (i will put it in a car, so not enough hood clearance or the vortec manifold)
cam
headers
and so on, all the thinks Im gonna change on the LS2 to increase power.
My questions now...would it fit? Is there a big difference between LQ4 and LS2, because it seems as if the LQ is a Gen III
Will this upgrade increase the power 'close) to the 400HP mark of the LS2?

The major power difference is that the Ls2 has higher compression, better flowing heads and bigger cam than the Lq4. The Ls2 heads will bump the compression on the Lq some and flow quite a bit better than the Lq4 heads depending on what year it is. The cam from the Ls2 is very similar to the first version of the Ls6 cam from 2000-2001. Ls2 heads intake and a mild aftermarket cam and you can make decent power cheap. Two things though, the iron block is about 100Lbs heavier and the iron block doesn't have the hole to mount the passenger car alternator. The boss is there but it's blank, you would have to drill and tap the hole for a swap into a passenger car.

both engines are from 2006.
The LS2 from a GTO, so I have to change several things to fit into a 3Gen Camaro (like the oil pan for example...) and hop it up at last...
The LQ4 from a Silverado 2WD. And I want to put it in a 81 Regal. So, oil pan too, intake...and, I have to see if there is a relocator kit available.
