Default New to FI but looking for 600+ at the wheels

Which would be the better way to go on this - Forged 383 with single/twin turbos or 402 with single turbo? Or would a SC work just fine with both. Need to be easy to drive on the street for it would be a weekend car w/strip passes once in a while.

Posted this in the dyno section by mistake and have an answer from there. Any help would be nice.

600 can be done easily on a stock bottom end with a d1

Thanks for the responses. I thought it wasn't good to run more than 550 fwhp on the stock bottom end on an LS1. Will look into that mag article.

I would do a supercharger set-up like a ProCharger.

I am a dealer for them and can get you set up with a kit or a quote if you would be interested.

Plenty of ways to do this though as you could also do it with a turbo, Pro Charger would be the easiest thing to bolt on and make the power you're wanting.

cheapest way..n20
procharger--more expensive, easy to install
huron speed turbo----little cheaper, little more fab work on the install.

those are the ways id go. i went procharger and made 600rwhp @ 9lbs on my cammed ls1 with bolt ons through a stalled auto. i would advise methanol, safe tuning, and head studs/gaskets.

I would use the blower at that power level. Turbos are a pain in the ***. You really need to know how to tune yourself with a turbo car. Especially a large single.

I would say tuning in general is going to be a pain in the *** to someone that has never done it before or attempted tuning no matter blower or turbo.

I understand what you're saying though and that getting a large single to spool quickly and do what you want it to do takes some "inside" knowledge that isn't very accessible to someone who is trying to learn on their own how to tune.

01boydws6 - Thanks for the info on that!

98BLOWNZ28 - Hahaha wont rev that thing that high!! So I take it the stock heads would have to go? Or just new springs? New cam? Want to see if bolting up a SC would do the trick or if I needed some more parts. Will look into meth and see what that is about.

it all depends on your budget. but with a d1sc, a little blower cam(im running the brute speed cam) and supporting mods(like springs/pushrods etc) its possible. and with meth, id say its basically guaranteed.
