Impossible to tell since every engine is different and changes with age. But a brand new 5.3 has about 330 hp. LS1 intake will actually lose a little HP over the truck intake. Headers will help some, probably 20 HP or so. 3" is too big for exhaust unless you are putting down 400+ HP.

I'm pretty sure 3" isn't too big - that is the standard aftermarket size for an LS1 FBody exhaust upgrade. I could see 4" being to big.

Single 3" exhaust or dual? Dual 3" seems excessive for a 5.3L, but probably wouldn't hurt anything. Plan on running dual 2.5" on my 5.3.

Do any search about exhaust size and horsepower and you will come up with pretty much exactly what I said. Here is just one example from Flowmaster

I dunno. Stock FBodies are 2.5inch and can gain around 25-30 rwhp with a full 3" exhaust so I doubt 3" is anything close to too much unless you're talking true duals.

If there's a 3" exhaust system that can get you 30 HP at the wheels, by all means bolt it on....but I am thinking those numbers are a little high. LT Headers are only good for a 10% gain at most, and that's the most effective thing you can do for an exhaust.

3" as in from headers to tailpipe is what I meant for the 30 HP gain
