Default rings and base(s) on a high recoil rifle?

Rem 700 bdl, 300 RUM, hogue stock pillar bedded. This is not a nice rifle, its a hunting rifle. Its first hunt will be elk in SW Colorado. I'm going to get a Nikon 4-12x40 or similar scope but this is my rifle build for such high recoil. Any suggestions?

I was told by a guy at carters country when I was looking for a base for my enfield.303, that to make sure and get a decent scope. As long as the base is good and secure you shouldn't have much problems. But a crappy scope could go off course with each round

Ive got a rem700 bdl in 300 RUM and broke a set of standard leupold mounts on the rear. I think I have deadnuts brand mounts on it and they havent moved so they are working. This is a serious caliber.

get you some better quality optics, for sure.... a nice brake and a good limbsaver should help your shoulder and the seated position of the optics on the rifle as well....
