Default Who is running shaft mounted rocker arms? LS7 Jesel vs. Crane vs. T&D vs. Crower

I don't spend much time here, mostly visit the Corvette forums, but figured you guys would have larger knowlege base of shaft mounted rockers on LS based engines.

So, who is running any of the following shaft mounted rockers? I'm looking into a set to run with a LPE GT9 camshaft on an LS7.

I'm trying to get some first hand experience of each brand, and the pros/cons of each.

Crower 74107F 1.55 ratio, MSRP = $1360
Jesel KPS-2065416T 1.55 ratio, MSRP = $2247
Comp Cans 1523 1.80 ratio, MSRP = $1545
T&D 2008 1.60 ratio, MSRP = $1220

I'm leaning towards the Comp Cams because of the higher lift ratio, and the price.

But would like to hear from others.

Don't know where your getting those ratios from, but most ls7 rockers are all 1.8 ratio.

Along with the rockers your going to need machine work to remove the factory rocker pedestals.

I got all but the Jesel ratios from the manufacturer's website. The Jesel website is very vague, but I found their specs from a reseller's website.

I have a set of LSX-LS7 heads which are going to LPE for porting, and will be machined for shaft mounted rockers while there.

T & D for the money, they build nice stuff. Give them a call, I think they will build them to any ratio.

I have a set of RHS Pro Elite LS7 heads and I'm using T&D 1.8 ratio rockers.
Ive used them in the past and have had excellent success with them.

most of those specs are not ratios you have listed ls7 needs the stock 1.8 to work proper

i have lsx ls7 heads that have been fit for the crower shaft rocker they are SS a bit heavier but way stronger than a aluminum rocker

street = stay away from aluminum rockers

strip only alum is great

Did you have Crower make a custon rocker? I really like them, but the specs I see are for a 1.55 ratio, not a 1.8. I also have the LSX-LS7 heads, and am going to run them with the LPE GT9 camshaft.

Thanks. I will call them, and see what they say. They look like a nice piece as well, and if I can get them in a 1.8 ratio I may go for them.

Umm....those numbers are rocker arm length, not ratio. As in the pivot length of the rocker, the distance from the center of the shaft to the center of the roller tip.

The crower product has always been bullet proof from my experience. Aluminum is questionable in this area over a long period or extended duty cycle. I've owned a crower set for 15 years and have been super happy with them.

The roller tip is exclusive last time I checked and supposedly lowers oil temps up to 50 degrees at the tip. With the friction generated in that area, it's quite possible.

Jesel Mohawks here. I'm sure all mentioned make great products but Jesel is the pioneer with the most proven history. Excellent customer service too.

I've used the Jesel LS7 shafts on multiple builds. They are 1.8 ratio, don't have part number handy. I have only run these on big$$, big HP motors built for 75/25 or so track/street use. Never ran into any durability issues and wouldn't expect to with a proven rocker design from them. As stated the factory rocker pedestals will need to be machined off/ heads machined and you may need to modify valve covers depending on what VC's you're running.

I was messing around today on an LS with the Jesel setup. Very nice package. They were the Mohawk2 bodies and J2K style shafts. They were using the Crane Cams billet valve covers on them and the covers fit out of the box with no modification.

thats not the ratio 1.55 its the pivot point

all ls motors stock and aftermarket will be 1.7 - 1.8 ratio anything else is custom and would not be listed
