Default R J salvages NY, need quick advice

Hi.

I live in Sweden and I'm looking to swap an LS1 t56 into my Corvette -69 this winter. Got a good working deal from R J salvages in NY on a package and would like to know if anyone dealt with him before. He claims to have sold 8000 combos and I guess some of them ought to be here in that case?

He is offering me to make a wire transfer of the money, or take it through ebay and paypal with the paypal buyer protection but that would cost me $400 extra due to ebay and paypal fees.

Need some quick advice here, is it normal in US to make wire transfers to Salvage yards? Is R J salvages trustworthy. My contact at the company is named Ron.

Thanks alot, I'm a bit in a hurry so any quick advice would be greatly appritiated.
Hope to be back here later this year with a thread on the swap!
Br Axel

I bought my engine and transmission from them a few years back and everything went perfect. I went through Ebay and Paypal however and not a wire transfer. My engine and transmission came from a wrecking yard in PA not NY. He must be dialed in to many yards up the East Coast is my guess and you should ask him about that. I did not but found out later through a VIN number check using CarFact. CarFact told me the car was totaled in PA, some history and the mileage. There was a little discrepancy on mileage but not enough to split hairs over. You should be OK but in all transactions "Caveat emptor"

The engine you see on the test stand is the one I purchased from RJ

Used them for the first motor for my ls1 miata swap. They lied about the year and mileage on the motor. They also kept hounding me for more shipping money after I did the wire transfer. Long story short they did refund my money, though they wouldn't wire transfer the money back to me they sent me a check. Would I recommend them? No way. everyone makes mistakes but shipping the wrong motor out, seems like they just tried to send me a cheaper motor package hoping I wouldn't notice.

Today the engine landed in my garage. Everything visually checks out and I'm so far extreamly pleased with R J salvages NY in every way that I can think of. Just wanted to share that. And thank you all for all your help!

Have a good friday night!

Glad it worked out, but I can't see any reason to ever, ever wire anyone money. It's the modern equivalent of putting cash in an envelope.

Will send you a PM. It's a bit of money but still very resonable.

you are right about that. My nails got alot shorter for a while there. If you live in the US I'm sure it's a bit of a different story but around here LS-engines doesn't grow on trees and you sometimes need to take certain risks to get where you want. After all the feedback I got about R J from you among others and the documentation I got from them on this combo I felt the risk was fairly small after all.
