Default TREX in a daily driver??? and how much HP gain??

I have done a search on the TREX cam, and I have read alot that it isn't good for a daily driver car...

we were looking at maybe getting one. right now we have a TR230, PP 2 5.3s and a PT4400 stall...

we don't really care too too much about how it is in daily driving... but kinda... but the car is drivin probably around 3 times a week.... and just mainly on short trips (10 minutes MAX), not on long trips....

also how is it performance wise.... how much HP or ET gain have people gotten from it? how much more HP do you think we would going from a TR230 to the TREX?

Thanks so much guys!

I'm putting my T-REX now. It's going in my daily driver. Untuned I should be between 400-410 rwhp. Tuned should be around 420-430, that's being conservative. I feel if you like a cam that sounds like a top fuel dragster has taken over your car, get it. The cam does pull like a motherfocker. I have 2 friends with these cams already, so I know what to expect.

I had one friend try to run his but his clutch was slipping bad and still went a 11.90 w/ a 1.9-2.0 60 ft. Someone else I know went a 11.0 leaving off the foot brake, w/ a set of ported heads, and this cam.

I'll tell you how mine is after tuning(231/237) but on stock tuning i would not want this car as my DD...it sounds great and all but when your stalling around every corner it sux lol...really I'd think this is about as large as id want to go on a DD Auto car.

t-rex is a little bit big for a daily driver....You will need to change springs often to prevent unexpected breakage....It so big and has an extremely agressive ramp rate...
I think Trex is a bad choice for a daily...go with something a little more conservative....
also...the High#'s are not that common....450 from a cam is just a freak..cam and heads...sure...maybe...you will be happier with a little less agressive cam...that will retain some down low torque(which the graphs I have seen for trex do not) and will keep your shift points useable....trex peaks High(from graphs I have seen)...which means you will not get full use unless you spin high....which means all new forged and balanced internals...unless you like throwing rods......
I looked at that cam recently and considered it for My daily driver....It would be great at the track...but I feel that for daily driver...there are too many negatives...

it is for a forget bottom end with pp heads and it is not a daily driver, he just drives when he fells like he wants too. mostly a race car, he dont care about DD just E.T.'s and that is it..

As long as it's tuned, you shouldn't have any problems driving it a few days out of the week. I do it untuned, but I've got an M6, so I'm not sure how much differently the automatic will react. There are definitely times when it isn't fun to drive on the street, just from all the surging. Tuning should take care of most of that, though.

Keep in mind that with the aftermarket heads you'll probably need notched pistons to run this cam.

no problem in a daily driver. even in a auto
JUST make sure that you get a very good tune by a professional. I dont know whats up with my car i made a monsterious 358 rwhp thats BS. I dont know whats up. When I punch my car it downshifts sometimes but had absolutely no power like its slipping but its not atcutally the trany?

but you can def. drive this in a daily driver. get a good tune if you want power though

Stock bottom end w/ flycut pistons. Stage II heads, don't quote me but I can't remember if they are absolute, or GTP. LS6 intake. Turbo 350 tranny, big stall.

LOL, that's what everyone said about my TR230/224 almost 2 years ago

I think it will be common place for people to have cams that size a year from now.

My next daily driver cam is a 240/248 .610/.625 112 LSA

I went from 349rwhp to 413rwhp with just the cam and valvetrain swap. I also added 4:10's between the dyno's pulls, so that also eats up a few ponies.
