So my car is a '95 z28 A4 with an slp CAI, smooth elbow, and UMI LCA's and panhard bar. My problem is that whenever I floor it from a dead stop, the wheels spin for a awhile before hooking. Is this normal? My tires are Yokohama AVS ES100 tires (245/50/16) with about 8/32's tread. So they're obviously not bald. I don't know if they are not wide enough or what. I just want less spinning so the car accelerates faster, any suggestions?

Its a car with tq. It's going to happen every time. The only way your going to get a good hook is to run drag radials. You can try rolling into the throttle but your going to be losing time that way since your not putting all your power down. A wider tire would help a little but if you go with to small of a sidewall it may just be a wash.

I'm not completely dumb, I know that but I just got the car. Its my first car and I've been reading on here. It seems like a lot of people can hook and go. I just wanted to know if this is because they have drag radials or what. Like I said, I have LCA's and a panhard bar. Would suspension be better than different tires? What about relocation brackets?

Tires AGE they are not just about how much rubber is left.

Likely comes down to all of the above, tires would likely help since the current ones are not new, suspension could help a bit as well and you learning how to control the throttle rather than using it like an on/off switch would help a lot for no money spent.

Only think I ever put Yokahamas on was the 2.3l Topaz my wife had when we met so I couldn't say if they will hold any power.

I've seen stock-ish A4 cars hook from a dead dig with street tires before many times. It can be done. Get some good quality tires and it will likely hook.

I know I know haha they were on it when I bought the car this summer. I believe the guy bought them new in 2004.

I have the staggered ZR1s on my 93 and I'd say get the C5 DD model instead, they look nice.

It's up to you since your the one driving the car. Can't go wrong with any of the Corvette style wheels IMO. I still think you'll be spinning with the Sumitomo's that those wheels come with.

Ok I guess a better question is, what tires do you recommend? Cheaper the better because I am in high school, and I will also have to drive on these everyday to school.

Where do you live? The right DD tire for Wisconsin is different from the right one for Florida.

wont be driven in the snow or wont be INTENTIONALLY driven in the snow.
Sucks when you go to work in the morning and the weather is decent but then when you leave something foul has blown in and you have a performance "summer only" tire on that get hard and slick in 40degree weather much less a little snow or water on the road at cold temps.
