Strange noise fan noise from buddy’s car Hey guys! I am new to the 4th gens but have had 3rd gens since I started driving. My buddy just picked up a 96 TA with a bad @$$ stroked LT1 and a 6 speed . The thing is very fast! We only went for a quick 1/4 mile drive because he doesn't have plates for it yet and we didn't want any problems with the cops. 
He has some big plans for the car but one thing is driving us crazy. What is the small fan sound when the car is first started? It sound like a sweeper or a small very fast fan in the engine bay. I don't think it would be a cooling fan because is makes it when you first start it or after you shut it off. I have been looking around the net to try to solve the cause of this sound and didn't find anything. I will be the first to addmit that this is bothering me. Not the sounds but not knowing what it is.
