Question Another Oil Pump Question

I just received my new GM oil pump P/N 17801830. I see alot of people on here recommend the Melling high volume pump. Is this pump adequate or is it a

Also was thinking about having it ported and possibly blueprinted is it worth the extra time and mone to have that done? If so is there a good thread on how to do that on here?

The pump is a good pump ........the problem is with a 5 qt. oil pan You run a risk of running out of oil before enough drains back while driving hard for extended periods of time or road racing . If You have a 6 or 7 qt. oil pan then You should be fine but road racing could still suck it dry .
