Trying to install my PAC 1218s this week while the heads are off. Im aware of tims valve spring tool but the problem is that im locked out of my paypal because im in a paymebt dispute with them so i have no way of purchasing. I already have tried the POS loaner tool at oreillys. Good lord i almost threw that thing threw the wall, it serves no purpose other than building frustration. I also tried the leverage bar kind the slips over the rocker screw. I got 2 springs off with ALOT of effort and im not using it again because i fear that the rocker screw will snap which would cause more drama.. anybody know where i can get a decent loaner/buy a tool for a cheap price as im not planning on reusing it. Also the HEAds are OFF. Im not able to do anything involvig paypal so im pretty between a rock and a hard place.

If the heads are off try to find a compressor like this. Pretty easy to use. Good luck..

I sure hope you didn't use the claw type that grabs the valve spring with two hooks. If you did and scratched the springs I wouldn't run them.

Man you wanna talk about pissed off. I almost snapped that thing in half before i returned it lol jk but im still removing my springs. Ill try to get that c clamp style today

about a year ago I saw that clamp style tool at sears for $20, don't know if they still have it. I got mine at Napa for around $60.

I really like my trick flow dual spring compressor... It was ~$70 and worth every penny AND can be used with the engine installed.

Ok guys i got all the springs out in about 10mins with the C clamp tool. It was sooooo much easier. But i cant get the new PAC 1218s on with it. The spring shot out when i was compressing it and almost hit me in the eye. I tried to get on the first sping on for like 20mins and just gave up and returned the loaner tool. It keeps slipping of the retainer and making it **** at an angle . Guess ill invest in an actual LS tool. Whats the cheapest one?

That one will work fine. The dual style compressors are worth the money. It paid for itself the first time. I do recommend using an air ratchet to run it down because it will save you a ton of time.
