Default what all is needed for a camshaft swap?

orginally had 2k to spend but its down to 1500 now, also a deer hit my car on the highway so now i have to spend 50$ for a junkyard door and no idea on a new quater panel + paint for those soo i have roughly 1k to spend on the parts now, thinking maybe longtubes +y pipe, and maybe a cam if i can squeeze it in. not sure on what all is required for a cam swap tho, any help is appreciated

currently its just bone stock, this winter was supposed to be bolt on winter and fun for me but things happened and its just a plain jane 94 as it sits. with a caved in quater panel now

If you're starting from complete scratch forget doing a cam swap at this time - you don't have the budget for it unfortunately.

Look into a good set of long tube headers, a good catback exhaust, a cold air induction, a larger converter, gears, etc. for the time being. Those mods alone should be able to get you down into the deep 13s-high 12s, and then you'd be set up for a cam swap once the budget allows.

^^what he said. Most of my bolt ons are either hand me downs or used. I always double check the classifieds here and craigslist before I even think about buying brand new. I've saved at least $1500 doing it the cheap way. Not as flashy as having brand new stuff but I'm more of a performance over flash kind of guy.
