Default Same physical size turbo as 76gts

I'm considering getting a different turbo now that I'm switching to a th400 from a t56. I need a better flowing turbo but it still needs to be a non divided T4 flange with the same basic dimensions as my 76gts. I have seen the 76gts put down awesome numbers and I plan on trying it out first before I replace it. I have a goal of 8.99 with a race weight of around 3600 lbs I would guess. I doubt a 76gts will get me there.
My set up consists of
10 to 1 370
LSA heads and ls3 intake
222/226 custom turbo cam on a 115+1
Up and forward headers. 1 3/4 primaries and 2 1/2 inch merge
3" downpipe but I can do a 3.5 inch out of the turbo to a 3" reducer if needed.

I saw that turbonetics has a mid framed T4 turbo. With a f1 75 mm turbine. Would that be better than what I have?
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Pt88/T4 is the only thing I can think of that will out power the Pt76/75 at similar size. Pt 88 is a little bigger but not much, mainly longer, and sits about 1/2 '' higher.

Pt88 is way to big. I've compared the two. The issue is I don't have much more room to run a bigger compressor housing. Maybe a 80mm at the most. I just need a bigger exhaust side to help with back pressure. There has got to be something out there.

Here is a link to the turbo I was looking at. How would this compare to a 76gts.

That looks like it could be bigger than the pt88 and has no more turbine than the pt7675.. You're going to need a decent size turbine to make the big power on 370". Might have to go something custom built.

So a 76gts has a f1 75 turbine also?
Hmm...well maybe I will have to alter my crossover some to get a t6 to fit. Hopefully the 76gts will just perform how I want and I won't have to worry about switching it out.

Would there be a issue with running a 3.5" or even a 4" downpipe and using a reducer about 12-14" from the beginning to a 3". I have a cutout right after the motor also.

I have the precision billet 7675, might gain you a lil over the 76gts, but not much IMO. I was in the same boat as you with my ltd as I'm limited to space, I called comp and he told me he could get me a 1000rwhp turbo the same size, but after seeing others dyno numbers on here it doesn't appear it is any better than the 7675. Just giving you a heads up so you don't go down that road.

I say you best bet is to just spray it if you don't want a physically bigger turbo.

How about a GT42 style PT76. They are still T4 and have bigger exhaust housing options. Still 75mm turbine wheel though.

dude, the PT88 and 76gts share the exact same compressor housing

only thing bigger is the bearing housing and turbine housing physically

With the car set up right, converter, trans brake...etc... 8.99 is totally doable.

Well hopefully that's the case. I have a t-brake, not sure on the converter specs yet. It's getting made now. And I also have double adjustable coilovers all the way around. Just trying to decide if I want to stick with the Hoosier full slick I have now or switch to a drag radial

Looking back at some pictures and they are a lot closer in size than I thought. I remember the pt88 being much bigger.

Contact me in regards to a Comp 7879. We can do it with a Billet wheel which is rated to 1200hp. Will be the exact same dimensions as your 76gts so it will bolt right up as well. Can be done in the 3" downpipe like you have so it will be completely direct bolt up, or the 3.5" and you can reduce it, whichever you prefer! Can do an open 0.96 a/r.

Thanks for the heads up. If I go with a much bigger turbo I will have to alter my crossover. And if that's the case I will just upgrade to a t6 at the same time.

X2. A true 1000fwhp can run 8's at 3600lbs if completely utilized. The trick would be is to leave with as much boost as you can in as soon as you can. Like said above pt88 is same size compressor cover just bigger exh side and center section is longer. If depth isn't a problem the pt88 might just fit. If radial clearance isn't a prob the S400's with race cover and t4 exhaust are pretty short. You could always cut down the divider, and knife edge it.

I never thought about getting the divider cut down on one of the divided t4 flanges. That opens up some options.

I was looking around and it looks like the pt8847 is the same exact size as a pt88? Which is very very close to the same size as my 76gts?

Look here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...cs-inside.html

When I traded my 76gts for the PT88 from gimmeluvin I looked at them both and they were obviously the compressor cover, but the exhaust is a fair bit larger. That little 76 looked like it belonged on a honda compared to the pt88 even though the only difference was the exhaust side.
