Thanks guys, do any of these places care about Russian ammo or anything? Last time I went into the arms room to shoot a guy next to me with an ak was telling me most places are real strict about them? I couldn't understand why, so I just kinda nodded my head okay.

Its the only range I shot at in the 20 years I lived in Houston (and still the only place I shoot at when I feel the need to fire off some rounds when I visit). If you cant find what you are looking for there, you wont be able to find it anywhere. Pistol, rifle (out to 300), and shotgun. My only word of warning is that if it has rained good, bring some water boots.

I usually go to American Shooting Center. It's a nice range that has almost everything you could want. Rifle out to 600 yards, steel pistol targets, trap, skeet, 5 stand, and sporting clays....

I like American and Hot Wells...However was a little annoyed last time at American, it was a Saturday and the place was packed. There were way too many morons on the pistol range sweeping me with their muzzles. The range officer should have been kicking some asses instead of standing around...

He did touch on one fault of ASC.... it can get busy. Although I never used their pistol range, I just fine tuned my long(er) range stuff with my .270 and a few AR's for deer season and shot skeet. Just be sure to avoid the key ramp ups to seasons (dove and deer can make a busy firing line) as well as the peak times on the weekends for any gun range and you will be alright.

If you don't have any expectations, you won't be disappointed. (American Shooting Centers)
This place finally broke my will, I used to buy the yearly membership here. Some of the range guys are on their game, the others are typical Gomer Pile types. Forget going on a weekend unless its before 9, you wont find a 50 yd or pistol lane half the time. As said above, if it has rained, bring mud boots. Oh yeah, and if you are planning on visiting the pistol lanes, wear a bullet proof vest, you WILL get swept plenty by idiots, who will also be glad to shoot your targets for you thinking they are their own. One of the many joys of shooting at a range with no lane dividers. You will also spend a fortune if you take multiple guns, last time I went, you had to pay per gun and per person. Thank God I have land to shoot on now...

Which is unfortunate. Back in the day (I moved out of Houston in 2004) they didnt hesitate to boot your *** (which is why I liked it so much).

Carters just north of Bush Airport http://www.carterscountry.net/Shooting%20Facility.htm
I have went there a few times for the 200 yard outdoor range with the deer rifle.
